Men’s Group Program

Goolum Goolum’s Men’s Group encourages the inclusiveness of all local Indigenous males from all backgrounds, from adolescence to older males. This group provides opportunities for our Men to get out on Country, participating in a variety of activities, excursions and events.

Celebrating Sistas Program

Daughters, Mothers, Sisters and Elders come together fortnightly (Stawell and Horsham) to gather and learn. This project focusses on cultural knowledge and learning’s, partaking in local excursions, arts and crafts, gathering to watch relevant movies and hosting guest speakers on a regular basis. During workshops, much emphasis will be focused on Women’s empowerment, achievements, and abilities, creating a positive atmosphere for all women involved. Workshops will also create a platform to discuss ongoing issues facing local Aboriginal women (Family Violence, Gender equality, etc) and a link to information and referral to relevant services.

Arts Program

Goolum Goolum’s Art Program brings local community together to explore cultural significance and history through a variety of art mediums, photography and storytelling. This project engages all ages, skills and interests. Creative works developed are displayed at community events within the region to celebrate local Indigenous culture and heritage. This is an ongoing community engagement/social connection project, capitalising on and enhancing opportunities for community to be part of local events/activities (eg: NAIDOC Art exhibition, Mental Health month, Artis…festival); as well as having capacity to initiate community led events and activities.

Community Engagement Activities

Goolum Goolum facilitates several activities and events throughout the year that bring our community together with a focus on providing strong social inclusion opportunities and healthy lifestyles.


Some of these events/activities include (but not limited to):

Wimmera River Challenge

Held on along the beautiful Wimmera River, Dimboola towards the end of November; This weekend event brings community together to participate in a Canoe Paddle Challenge from Horseshoe Bend to the Dimboola Holiday Park. ‘Coming together as one’ is the Wimmera River Challenge slogan. This slogan rings true in regard to the aims of this project which is to bring the community together, embracing family and social interaction and service integration. Activities are a plenty with camping, fishing, cooking, games and traditional learnings.

NAIDOC Art Exhibition

In partnership with Horsham Art Gallery, Goolum Goolum showcase local artists and an array of art mediums throughout the time of celebration of NAIDOC week. Goolum’s NAIDOC Art Exhibition is held at the Horsham Town Hall throughout July.

NAIDOC March

This physical challenge is a walk/run/ride activity along the walking tracks on Horsham’s Wimmera River (or a virtual event for the out-of-towners). Our community members pick a distance challenge for themselves to complete throughout the week of NAIDOC. Challenges are shared on social media and in Newsletter to celebrate and acknowledge our community member’s healthy lifestyle achievement.
