KOORI SUBSTANCE MISUSE WORKER (1.0EFT) -

An exciting ongoing position exists for someone to join a dynamic health team to deliver Counselling, Counsultancy and Continuing Care Services around alcohol and drug misuse. This position is full time and ongoing with attractive salary packaging options.

Hours: 9:00am-5.00pm Mon-Thurs, 9.00.am-4.00pm Friday

Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000

Position Overview: This position involves working with individuals and families. The program aims to provide support, advocacy and relevant educational programs relating to issues around substance use to increase awareness within the community in a holistic manner. The successful applicant will be involved in preventative programmes as part of a team approach to substance misuse and will be offered support, mentoring and ongoing professional development. Tertiary qualifications in social work or related field and experience working with A&OD issues is highly desirable.

ABORIGINAL FAMILY CONVENER (Family Decision Making Program) (0.4EFT) -

A part time position exists for someone who is keen to work with Aboriginal children and their families. Ongoing professional development and attractive salary packaging available.

Salary Range: $20,000-$25,000

Position Overview: The primary role of this position is to meet and work with children, young people and families already in contact or at risk with the Child Protection system. The successful applicant will engage families in the Aboriginal Family Decision Making program and implement and co-convene a culturally responsive model of family decision making with Aboriginal children, young people and families who are referred by the regional child protection service.Demonstrated ability in convening and experience working in and with Aboriginal communities is desirable.

KOORI ADOLESCENT HEALTH WORKER (1.0EFT) -

This exciting position is funded until July 2013. Ongoing professional development and attractive salary packaging available.

Hours: 9.00am-5.00pm Mon- Thurs, 9.00am-4.00pm Friday

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000

Position Overview: The position involves active and constructive engagement with Koori adolescents identifying and addressing their wellbeing needs. The successful applicant will be involved in developing support pathways for identified Koori adolescents to access services and identified programs encouraging personal development and positive transition into adulthood. The position also involves the development of appropriate programs, group work and working closely with other service providers to ensure the best health outcomes for these adolescents.

BRINGING THEM HOME (0.4 EFT) -

This part time position is funded under the Closing the Gap initiative and involves working closely with Koori people affected by the Stolen Generation. Ongoing professional development and attractive salary packaging available

Salary Range: $20,000-$28,000

Position Overview: This role requires the ability to identify people affected by the Stolen Generation and to counsel and support their emotional health needs. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team the successful applicant will endeavour to assist people to work through the emotional impact and consequences of this experience.A demonstrated knowledge of the possible impact of Stolen Generation and working with Aboriginal communities is desirable.

KOORI COMMUNITY AND YOUTH JUSTICE WORKER (1.0 EFT) -

A full time position exists for a person interested in working with Aboriginal people in the justice system. The program aims to assist and support people already in the system and to implement preventative programs. Extensive training and support with be provided and salary packaging is available.

Hours: 9:00am-5.00pm Mon-Thurs, 9.00.am-4.00pm Friday

Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000

Position Overview: The successful applicant will be required to assist individuals to meet the requirements of their community based orders and to advocate for service access and provision that will optimize the outcomes of individuals on justice orders. Implementation of preventative programs and support to enhance best outcomes for offenders will be required. Experience in this area is desirable but not necessary.
